Design of gabion slope wall with geotextile

Here encloses a design of gabion with geotextile applied to slope wall protection project for power station in China.

There are four construction parts in the gabion slope protection project: foundation treatment, laying of geotextiles, laying of geotextile bags, and assembling and filling of gabion cages.

1) Basic treatment. The basic treatment mainly includes foundation and excavation of basic earth and stone, and foundation leveling and compaction. According to the requirements of the design documents, the average depth of removal of turf, humus, sand and gravel on dam slopes is 20 cm to 30 cm, and the boundary of clean foundation is 30 cm to 50 cm outside the design base line. After the foundation is completed, the foundation surface shall be flattened and compacted. The compaction width shall be 30 cm to 50 cm beyond the filling boundary, and the filling shall meet the compaction degree of not less than 0.90.

2) The laying of geotextiles. A needle-punched non-woven geotextile with a specification of 150 g/m2 is used. When geotextiles are laid, they can be laid along the dam slope from one side to the top. The overlap width of geotextiles shall not be less than 50 cm. The geotextile used must meet the quality requirements and be used after passing the verification.

3) The laying of geotextile bags. The geotextile bag raw material is a non-woven geotextile fabric, which is a sealed bag of high-strength plane-stabilized material needled with polypropylene or polyester fiber, and the filling material is made of silt, silt, and fine sand, and the strength after splicing is not low. In the original fabric design strength of 70%, when laying bags should be stacked neatly, the upper and lower layers of cross-arrangement, the bags should be close, dense, no seams.

4) Gabion cage assembly and filling. The connection to the Gabion cage should be smooth and even, and the joints should be neat and sturdy. The spacer net of the unit cage intersects with the net body at an angle of 90°. The spacer net and the net body are tied together at each of the four corners of the net. The junction of the spacer net is a helical perforation twisted connection around a circle of the connection wire. In the Gebion cage, the stone placement needs to be smooth in order to avoid unevenness. The middle of the block stone is filled with smaller particles, and the size of the small particles should not be smaller than the mesh size.
